Raising the bar with a new Firehouse

Raising the bar with a new Firehouse

I personally know most if not all of the Firefighters and EMT’s at District 1, and never cease to be amazed at the high level of professionalism and commitment they demonstrate.

I’d like to call myself a volunteer, and indeed I’ve tried.

But within a few training sessions trying to keep up I learned I’m not cut out to be a fireman; too claustrophobic, I guess.

It takes a special breed.

To maintain any special service or function, there must be qualified, dedicated people involved.

Since 1929, District 1 Fire has consistently raised the bar with us, the community, in mind.

These are professional men and women who must maintain an extraordinary standard of training and physical fitness to perform what is a necessary and critical service for our community.

This raising of the bar has, until now, been accomplished within the existing budget.

But as our families grow in numbers as a community, so must they.

A new station is in order to accommodate their growing numbers and to adequately consolidate, house and upgrade equipment.

Yes, there will be a cost, and my family and I are willing to contribute.
