After moving to Denver, Colo., she was employed by the Coors Corporation, then the U.S. Postal Service.

In 1976, her love for animals brought her to Phoenix, Ariz., where she bred and raised greyhound dogs with her lifelong companion, Allen Everett. She partnered with him as the owner/operator of Allen Everett Kennels in South Dakota. In 1989, she and Allen followed the greyhound dog circuit to Post Falls, Idaho. In 1999, she began a career as a health care aide in Post Falls. Gina and Allen later moved to Pinehurst, where she became a senior companion and eventually developed a special bond with Mike George and his sister, Elaine, after their mother passed away.

She sporadically fought cancer from 2001 to the time of her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving companion of 40 years, Allen Everett. She is survived by her siblings, Steven (Susan) Leitte, Barbara (Alan) Flint and Mary (Ronald) Knoll; and several nieces and nephews. Although she had no biological children, she loved and considered Mike and his sister, Elaine George, as her children.
