William Raymond Hoffman Smith, 68

William Raymond Hoffman Smith, 68, of Burlington, Wisconsin passed away August 22,2017 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. He fought as long as he could and just got tired.

Born in Wallace, Idaho on September 21, 1948, he was the only son of William Thomas and Ruby Geraldine Gilseth Hoffman. He spent his early life in Wallace and Osburn and graduated from Wallace High School in 1966. Following high school he enlisted in the Navy and served in various parts of the world during the Vietnam War as a Gunner’s Mate. He retired from the Navy after 20 years and was employed at Great lakes Naval Base in civil service. He has lived in Burlington for the past 14 years enjoying riding his Harley and spending time with family and friends.

Bill is survived by his fiancee’ Kay Henney; children Darrin (Danielle) Smith, Julie Smith and grandchildren Devin and Matthew Smith, Jackson and Zachary Helland, and Kay’s children and grandchildren. He also leaves his loving sisters, Julie Crnkovich, Jeri (Scott) Estille and Shelley Pierce who he came home to his Idaho to visit every two years.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
