Fire danger lowered and restrictions lifted

| September 19, 2017 6:53 PM

CATALDO — The Shoshone County Fire Chief’s Association (SCFCA), which includes members from all local fire departments and wildland fire agencies, have determined it is time to lower the fire danger to “Moderate” for the local area effective September 21, 2017.

In addition to the lowered danger level, all fire restrictions have been lifted- effective immediately.

The Association would also like to announce that burn permits for residential yard waste and burn barrels are now being issued.

To obtain your free burn permit please visit burnpermits.idaho.gov or contact your local fire department.

The fire safety burn permit system helps to inform fire managers where burning activities are occurring, reducing the number of false runs and saving firefighting resources for instances in which they are truly needed.

Please remember that a day or two of intermittent moisture does not offset an historically dry fire season.

It is typical that only half of the rain received penetrates through a forest canopy, so please keep up your due diligence and awareness for fire safety as you are out enjoying the woods.
