Darren Lee McKinnon, 35

Darren Lee McKinnon, 35, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away Sept. 20, 2017. He was born Oct. 20, 1981, in Kellogg, Idaho. Darren was the son of Robert and Connie (Bailey) McKinnon.

Darren spent his childhood growing up in Post Falls, Idaho. At a young age, Darren had shown a natural talent on two wheels and began racing BMX bicycles. He was also a very talented basketball player, starting all four years for the Post Falls Trojans Varsity team. Darren graduated from Post Falls High School in 2000.

After high school, Darren worked various jobs. In 2009, Darren moved to the Silver Valley where he began cooking at the Silver Corner. Later he took a job at Building Maintenance as their mine delivery driver.

Darren was the life of the party, he loved laughing, telling jokes and having a good time with his family and friends. Darren could be heard saying “I like to party” time and time again. Darren was a man of many talents and was known to cut loose on the dance floor, as well as creating delicious meals in the kitchen, especially cooking breakfast with his daughter. He also enjoyed spending his time in the outdoors with his wife, Mariah, riding four-wheelers and fishing with his step-children.

On Aug. 20, 2016, Darren was united in marriage to Mariah Haston at his grandmother’s house in Kingston, Idaho.

Darren is survived by his beloved bride, Mariah McKinnon; his daughter, Peighton; three step-children, Colton, Samara and Joe; his mother, Connie and sister Jen (Matt) Hazelton. He is also survived by his two nieces, Lexi and Maddie Jae; and many cousins, uncles, aunts and friends. Darren was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Robert.

A celebration of Darren’s life will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at the Sunshine Inn, 301 W. Cameron Ave., Kellogg.
