Anthony Thomas Maravilla, 90

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend Anthony “Tony” Maravilla, 90, of Osburn, Idaho, passed away March 29, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. Tony was born on April 1, 1927 in Emmett, Idaho to Abel and Francesca (Cabrera) Maravilla.

Tony joined the United States Navy on January 15, 1945. He trained to drive the Navy amphibians and also served on the USS Ascella. He received the World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged in February 1948. After being honorably discharged He moved to the Silver Valley where he met his future wife Pasty Crawford. On September 28, 1948 Tony was united in marriage to Patsy at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Kellogg. Together they had five children.

Tony went to work for the Bunker Hill Mining Company, first working as a miner then later a machinist and finally in the accounting department. All together Tony worked for Bunker Hill for over 30 years before retiring. In his retirement Tony worked for St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Wallace handling all the maintenance and the lawns. He was a very proud member of the Catholic Parish. He was also a member of the Silver Valley Kiwanis, he was a Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Industrial Union where he served as the secretary. In his free time Tony enjoyed cutting fire wood, hunting and going fishing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.

Tony is survived by his five children, Tony Jr. (Linda) Maravilla, Denise (Luis) Lucero, Tracy Maravilla, Jonni (Rocky) Galarza and Joe (Karen) Maravilla; eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother Roque Maravilla; his sister Mary Maravilla and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patsy, five brothers and one sister.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg with Father Jerome Montez serving as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg. A reception/luncheon will be held in the Church Fellowship Hall following the services.
