Erna Kosanke, 94
It’s with great sadness that the family of Erna Kosanke announces her passing on April 14, 2018 at her home in Olympia, WA.
A burial service will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Kellogg, ID on April 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
Born in Romania in 1923, Erna married Artur Kosanke and together they had four children: Karin Zeigler of Olympia, WA; Richard (deceased) of Osburn, ID; Harold of Federal Way, WA; and Werner of Coeur d’ Alene, ID and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her family, Erna immigrated to the US and settled in Kellogg, ID. While raising her children, she worked various jobs including at West Shoshone General Hospital and other health care facilities. She enjoyed nature, bird watching, fishing and loved animals especially dogs and horses. She also was a great cook and was known for her homemade main dishes including strudel & dampfnudln and many other Romanian/German delicacies.
Erna had a very strong connection to her family, especially her sister Ida. As young women, Erna and Ida met and married a pair of brothers, Artur and John Kosanke. Together, they immigrated to America and both families settled in the Kellogg area - creating a close knit family that enjoyed many fun times together.
After Artur’s death, Erna married Walter Sedon in Pennsylvania. After many years in Pennsylvania they moved to Washington to be with family.
Erna is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands; her son, Richard; her siblings:
Mathilde Pfeiffle, Stammheim, Germany; Alma Ebert, Calw, Germany; George Maas, Gechingen Germany; Herbert Maas, Bessarabia Romania; Adeline Regner Hemmingen, Germany; Ida Kosanke, Mesa Arizona.
