Wallace Sewer Improvement Project continues into summer

| April 20, 2018 2:21 PM

WALLACE — The city of Wallace is continuing city-wide sewer improvements this year to replace the existing 100-year-old system. Construction for 2018 started on March 26 and is scheduled to continue through July 2018. The overall project, which started in spring 2016, includes rehabilitating or replacing over 20,000 feet of mainline sewer pipes, replacing over 80 manholes, and replacing over 16,000 feet of private sewer service pipelines (laterals) and joining them to the new mainlines.

“The fairly mild winter weather allowed crews to start earlier this year compared to past years,” said Mayor Lynn Mogensen. “We are grateful for the patience and cooperation of the Wallace community and look forward to completing the project this summer.”

Overall, the 2018 work will include a series of activities including digging trenches, laying new pipes, connecting pipes, backfilling trenches, and reseeding or laying asphalt over the affected area.

Construction will take place throughout the city, and residents can expect impacts including noise, minor vibrations, open trenches, road and lane closures, and short-term limited access. Crews will work during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, and will notify residents/business owners prior to starting work in their area.
