The hunt for Kellogg School District’s next superintendent has been narrowed to just two candidates as the Kellogg School Board heads toward the final interviews and community meet and greet later this week.

The search began a few months ago following current superintendent Woody Woodford’s formal retirement announcement, beginning in July of this year.

Two weeks ago the search really ramped up after the KSB announced their four finalists for the position, but then last week that was cut in half after finalists Steven Miller (personal reasons) and David Carson (accepted another job) withdrew from the race.

The race is now down to current Kellogg and Wallace School District curriculum director Nancy Larsen and current Victor School District superintendent Lance Pearson.

Following the announcement of the withdrawals, the school board canceled a meeting that had been scheduled for last week.

Immediately the community voiced questions regarding whether the school would replace the two candidates, but KSD had no plans to do so.

In a message on their Kellogg Jt. School District 391 Facebook page, they explained their reason for not replacing the withdrawn candidates.

The Board Chairman (Art Krulitz) has indicated they feel they have two highly qualified candidates for the position and will continue with the interview process as set forth.”

The board plans to use the information gathered through reference checks and through the use of a recent social media survey to conduct formal interviews that will be done late this week.

The results from that survey were used to generate some of the questions that will be used during interview process (partial results from that survey can be found posted on Facebook).

The Kellogg School District will be having the community meet and greet for their two superintendent candidates at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, in the cafeteria of the Kellogg School District Community Center.
