Local boxers win at Fight Night X
The tenth edition of Wallace Fight Night went over like gangbusters as the Wallace Civic Auditorium got their appetite for competitive violence whetted by the awesome display of pugilistic skill.
The Shoshone News-Press was mistaken in its report of only one Silver Valley fighter making the card as both Tyler Wuerful and Chevy Hawkins had bouts at the event.
Both fighters represented the Valley well as they finished 2-0 at the event.
Coach Rick Welliver was pleased with the event’s turnout and thought that the pairing of Fight Night with another Wallace event made it even better.
“We had a great crowd which made the great event even better,” Welliver said. “All the fighters put on a great show, but I think our symbiotic relationship with the Wallace Brewfest made the event feel even bigger.”
Welliver, who doubles as both coach and event promoter, was very thankful that he had the assistance of his coaching staff for the event.
“I wanna give a big shout to coaches Cal Davis and Jim Bolle,” Welliver said. “Cal has been working with Tyler (Wuerful) and Jim has been working with Chevy (Hawkins) and it shows. They’re becoming really very good coaches.”
The next Fight Night event is looking to be this August and has become a pretty popular event due it being hosted on top of Silver Mountain.
The Shoshone News-Press will have information for that event as it becomes available.
