Work continues on the City of Kellogg’s Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project. Before providing my project update I want to say Thank You. Thanks to all of those who live in Kellogg for your support as the project has proceeded over the past three years. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. I want to thank the business community for their patience this year while uptown was being completed. I want to thank all of those who have continued to visit our community while work has been underway.

I also want to take this time to say thanks to Big Sky Development, Knife River, all of the subcontractors, engineering staff and our city employees who are doing what needs to be done while the project proceeds. I especially want to thank all of those who are working very hard under hot and difficult conditions to install the pipe, make the service connections and to replace our roads. All of your efforts are noted and appreciated. Your skills and professionalism continues to make this project a great success. Again, thank you.

Phase III is currently completing pave out of the uptown area and McKinley Ave. Getting to this point has been a huge effort but the end product is worth it. Mainline sewer crews will continue to move forward on Flume Ave, Idaho Ave. and Park Ave. Road work on Alhambra going to the cemetery will begin soon, possibly before the end of this week. The pavement will be removed & replaced and is expected to be repaved on August 9th or 10th.

Phase II construction continues to march eastward. Mainline sewer crews are working on Elder Ave. moving east towards Helen Street. Sewer services are being installed on Mission Ave. east of Hill Street and will be completed soon. This will be followed by mainline water and water services. Crews are working on Mullan Ave. east of Hill Street towards Division Street installing water line. This will be followed with water services. Workers are installing curbing on Riverside Ave in preparation for paving.

The next large pave out is scheduled for August 7th, 8th and 9th. Those areas to be paved include Cedar Street, and Riverside Ave. both west and east of Hill Street. Every effort is being made to pave Mullan Ave. between Cedar Street and Hill Street. However, this may not occur if we run out of time to complete the installation of all the curbing needed prior to pave out.

Sewer work continues on Cameron Ave. near the intersection of Cameron and Division Street. Work in this area is expected to take at least a couple of weeks.

As always, please be safe. Obey road closure signs and drive slowly & carefully around and through active construction zones. Watch out for pedestrians and especially young children and pets. Remember, operators of heavy equipment may have blind spots that make it hard to see vehicles and pedestrians so give them plenty of room to maneuver. Please continue to be patient with all that is going on and don’t be afraid to say thank you to all of those who are working hard on your behalf.

Parents, please remind your children to avoid active construction zones and to not play on material piles placed throughout the area.

Remember, the Kellogg swimming pool remains open and admittance is free of charge while the sewer project is underway.

Anyone needing special assistance related to the sewer project or who may have questions or concerns should contact Mr. Craig Lewis, Superintendent of Public Works at (208) 786-9131. On weekends, holidays or after work hours you may contact Mr. Lewis by calling the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (208) 556-1114 and ask that they contact him for you.
