Ramona Modene Arnold, 89

Ramona Modene Arnold, 89, formerly of the Silver Valley, passed away November 30, 2018 at the Schneidmiller House of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born February 8, 1929 at the old Wardner Hospital of Kellogg; Ramona was the daughter of Samuel and Maude (White) Reynolds whom were old time religion folks from Georgia and Tennessee. Ramona was raised on her parent’s ranch located up Bear Creek in Enaville, Idaho.

On November 10, 1947 Ramona was united in marriage to William Arnold. Together they had four children and raised them in the old Tipperary Saloon which they remodeled and called home. William passed away in 1971.

Ramona was an excellent seamstress. She sewed many ballroom gowns for ladies of the Eastern Star and also sewed beautiful formals for her daughters. She also sewed men’s flannel shirts and made her children’s clothing. Ramona was also an excellent cook and was known for her delicious biscuits. She cooked for various restaurants throughout the Silver Valley and for the Forest Services. She never knew a stranger and always offered to feed anyone that came to her home.

Ramona was very involved in the community and was a member of Eastern Star, Kingston Baptist Church, Kellogg Eagles, Evergreen Choir, the old Pinehurst Baptist Church and was a Blue bird leader.

In her free time Ramona loved to fish. She was known to catch her limit every time she headed down to the lake. Before her first cast she would pray for dominion over the fish then proceed to catch her limit. Ramona was also very interested in botany and could name just about every wild flower from the North Fork to the St. Joe.

Ramona is survived by her children Rita Peck, Gail (Alfred) Jensen, William “Bucky” (Pam Dockter) Arnold and Lyle Arnold; one brother Judson (Patty) Reynolds. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Gene, sister Bessie Alene and two grandchildren Sonya and Bret.

A Celebration of Ramona’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg with Steve Massie officiating. Internment will take place at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg following the service.
