Patrick Duane Waters

| December 31, 2018 9:57 AM

Patrick Duane Waters, of Post Falls, passed away Wednesday, December 26th at the age of 53 at the Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Id. He was born in Mountain View, Missouri on December 5th, 1965 and moved with his family to the Silver Valley at age 3. Pat began working for his family’s garbage business in 1970 at the age of 5 helping his dad. Pat attended and graduated from Wallace High School in 1984, then went on to obtain a certificate from North Idaho College in the Career and Technical Program, Automotive Technology.

Pat married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Dianne Collins, on April 4th, 1987. The couple went on to have three children: Stephanie, Jacob, and Jillian. He was a devoted husband and father, with the kindest heart. If Pat wasn’t coaching one of his children’s many activities, you could see him in the stands watching and cheering with great pride. If anyone needed a helping hand, he would be there for them at any time of the day or night. Pat believed every stranger was just a new friend to meet and he was the kind of man who treated everyone he encountered with respect. Pat was an animal lover, especially his labs, Dobber, Jersey and Zoey.

Pat devoted his time to running Waters Garbage and being with his wife and kids. In his spare time, Pat was an active member of the community. His memberships included the Shriners Calam Temple of Lewiston, the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons Shoshone Lodge #25, the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, the Royal Order of Jesters, as well as the h2o Boys softball & bowling teams, and a member of the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church. Pat served the Miner Wrestling team for over 20 years as an assistant coach and then head coach until his illness. He took a special interest in helping develop the youth of his community, however the wrestling program held a special place in his heart. He truly cared for the kids on and off the mat.

Since he was a child, he was passionate about cars from the inside out. He enjoyed figuring out the mechanics with an expert hand at pinstriping. Pat loved being active in the outdoors. His hobbies included ATVing, golfing, camping, boating, and duck hunting with his son and friends to which many stories can be told. He was a devoted Nascar, Chicago Bears and L.A. Chargers fan who proudly wore his team’s colors. Pat enjoyed a friendly fireworks competition which lit up the skies in Osburn each 4th of July. You could always hear Pat blasting his 80’s rock music. One of his most cherished memories was when his wife surprised him with a trip to L.A. to watch AD/DC live in concert.

On October 23, 2017, Pat was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer known as glioblastoma multiforme and went into surgery two days later. He was given 6 to 9 months to live, however those who knew Pat best, knew that he wasn’t going without a fight. To no one’s surprise, he surpassed the odds he was given and fought bravely to the end when God chose to bring him home.

He is survived by his wife Dianne of Post Falls, daughter Stephanie of Post Falls, son Jacob & daughter-in-law Abbie of Coeur d’Alene, and daughter Jillian of Moscow. Pat was preceded in death by his parents Gary and Joyce Waters.

Pat’s family suggests memorials be made to the Shoshone County Shriners or a youth program of your choice.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 5th at 2 p.m. at the United Congregational Church in Wallace. There will be a remembrance following the service at the Wallace Elks on the second level.
