County unveils new, dramatically improved website

WALLACE — Shoshone County recently unveiled their new and improved website, shoshonecounty.id.gov, and the first reactions to the site have been overwhelmingly positive from county officials.
The previous website was as low-functioning as it was visually unappealing, but the new site has done quite a bit to bring the county into current technology.
The site offers visitors a fully interactive directory of the county’s various offices and officials; as well as links to many of the county’s services such as a property tax payment center, flood information, Silver Express bus information and a lot more.
Late last year, the Shoshone Board of County Commissioners hired local company GravisTech to design and construct the new website.
“As we all know, the world around us is getting more and more about providing good access through technology,” BOCC chairman Mike Fitzgerald said. “The new website utilizes the latest innovations in web design with the multi-platform users in mind. Our community, and us as employees, may now use the website from our PCs, phones and more advanced computing devices.”
Fitzgerald then highlighted how far the new website has distanced itself from the old website and why the new site is such an important first step for the county.
“Our old site was based on grossly outdated software. Editing was cumbersome; Access was limited; And, with our planned server upgrade, compatibility was going to be questionable,” Fitzgerald said. “The new website is a beginning with room for expansion. Much of the old site’s information has been migrated to the new site. Room for adding information, linking to outside resources and building group portals are available to us.”
Fitzgerald is hoping that the website will not only serve residents more efficiently, but will also demonstrate how far the county has come to make this happen.
“The website is intended to not only fulfill the county needs and provide routine website functions, it is also intended to reflect the character of our county,” Fitzgerald said. “The goal is to showcase who we are, how well we do what we do, and what a nice place we work and live.”
