| February 9, 2018 3:32 PM

Raymond Richard Rudd 90 of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho passed away at his home surrounded by the love of his family on February 6, 2018. He was born on January 24, 1928 in Hot Sulpher Springs, Colorado. Ray was the son of Oscar and Marie (Haggerty) Rudd.

Raymond’s family moved from Nebraska to the Ontario, Oregon area when he was a young boy where he and his brothers had many adventures exploring the Snake River. The family moved to LaGrande Oregon when he was a young man where he met and married the love of his life Rita Crader on Easter Day April 9, 1950. Together they raised 4 children. They had 61 wonderful years together until Rita passed away in 2011.

Raymond enlisted in the US Navy in 1945 at the young age of 17. He served on the aircraft carrier USS Saidor CVE 117-WWII in the Aleutians Islands. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1947. He was very proud to have served his country.

After leaving the Navy he hitchhiked back to the Rudd family homestead in Nebraska to see his Granddad and Uncles still living there.

He worked on a ranch in Oregon and became a pretty good Cowboy. He spoke of those days often.

Raymond and Rita moved to Kellogg in 1950 where he worked at The Sunshine Mine for 37 years.

He retired from the mine in 1986. Ray and Rita moved to the Beyond Hope Penninsula in Idaho where they spent the next 15 years enjoying life friends and family. He worked at the resort for many years as caretaker.

Raymond was an avid fisherman for many years and caught more than his fair share out of Pend Oreille Lake. He also had a green thumb and was the envy of his neighbors with his beautiful flower garden especially his gladiolas, dahlias, roses and sunflowers!

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and they all loved him. He had a big heart and loved children. His Grandkids always wanted to go see Gramps.
