Wallace Flower Project Committee recognizes two outstanding citizens
The Wallace Flower Project Committee would like to recognize Pat Cornelius and Jon Ruggles for their exemplary service to the project in 2017. Jon and Pat’s efforts were instrumental to the project’s success last year. Their contributions are worthy of the committee’s recognition as outstanding citizens and flower project contributors.
Many private citizens and local businesses donated money to the project to help purchase flowers and make renovations to the city park located in Wallace on the corner of Second and Cypress. Money raised covered the cost of materials, and Jon and Pat volunteered their labor to make the improvements. Additionally, they volunteered their time to beautify the park grounds, add flowers to the flower beds and plant grass seed.
Pat watered the flower baskets at the end of the season when city summer staff was no longer available. Pat’s contributions were integral to the success of the project. The committee thanks Pat for helping the project succeed and for making Wallace a beautiful place to live and visit.
In addition to his work in 2017, Jon Ruggles served on the committee six years. His contributions have directly contributed to the growth of the flower project. He built the project’s greenhouse and was instrumental in installation of the self-watering system down Second Street. The committee would like to recognize and thank him for his many years of generosity and volunteerism.
The Wallace Flower Project Committee consists of a small group of private citizens who ensure that the city of Wallace has flower baskets each summer. Our 2018 Committee members are Art Fleming, Janet Feiler, Mike Feiler, Elmer Mattila, Dena Shaffer, Iris Cantamessa and Sera White. We are hoping 2018 will be our best year yet. If you are interested in volunteering or sponsoring a basket for the 2018 season, please visit growwallace.org or contact a committee member for more information.
