David Seaver Van Horne, 81

It is with great sadness that the family of David Seaver Van Horne announces his passing after a brief illness, on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at the age of 81 years.

Dave will be lovingly remembered by his children, daughter Kelly Van Horne; son Krist Van Horne and wife Sherri; sister Virginia Riedesel and nephew Doug Leibinger. Dave was predeceased by his wife of 31 years, Charlotte (1996); and his parents, Clarence (1972) and Louise (1979) Van Horne.

A native of Williston, N.D., Dave grew up in Wallace, Idaho, and served in the United States Air Force before marrying Charlotte Heier in 1965. He worked extensively in the field of mining and later attended Coeur d’Alene College, graduating with a degree in drafting/surveying. Dave and his family moved several times throughout Idaho and Washington, finally settling in Winnemucca, Nev., in 1981, where he worked for several mines over the years, Charlotte managed a local bank and the kids graduated high school.

He enjoyed camping, golfing, bowling, and later visiting his kids and their pets in Pasco, Wash., and Reno, Nev.

A celebration of life is planned for the coming spring in Winnemucca.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in commemoration of David may be made to a scholarship in his and Charlotte’s name at Procter R. Hug High School, 2880 Sutro St., Reno, NV 89512 (attn: Scholarship Committee via Jason Aytes).
