Bernard LeRoy Bourgeois, 89

Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Bernard LeRoy Bourgeois, 89, of Kellogg, Idaho, passed away January 14, 2018 at the Mountain Valley Cascadia of Kellogg, Idaho. He was born on February 19, 1928 in Melita, Michigan.

At the age of nine, Bernard began running his own trap line. He set and checked his traps daily until the age of seventeen when he joined the United States Army. During his time in the Army, Bernard spent three years in Germany.

On December 7, 1963 Bernard was united in marriage to Joyce Hill in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at the Hitching Post. They were married 51 years when Joyce passed away in 2015.

Bernard and Joyce owned and operated the Pine Creek Tavern from May of 1965 to June of 1977. Bernard also worked in the woods as a logger and also drove truck.

When Bernard wasn’t working, he was playing his guitar. He was a talented musician who played alongside many different people over the years. He loved playing and singing for his family and friends.

Bernard is survived by his children Dorothy (Jaysen) Mcvay of Wardner, Beezer (Jessica) Bourgeois of Pine Creek, Steve Hill of Washington and Rick (Lyn) Hill also of Washington. Bernard is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Carrie Bourgeois, siblings Erma “Butch” Dorothy, Margie, Willard and one son Don Hill.

Per Bernard’s requests, no services will be held at this time.
