Warren Harvey Marttala, 81

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Warren Harvey Marttala, 81, of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away January 15, 2018 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg, Idaho. He was born October 14, 1936 in Seattle, Washington; Warren was the son of Arvi and Neva (Waddell) Marttala.

Warren attended schools in Seattle. He attended the University of Washington receiving a bachelors degree in basic medical science. Warren then attended the Oregon University receiving a masters degree in dentistry and periodontology.

Warren also proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a Lt. Colonel serving in dentistry for twenty plus years, he also served as a pilot and had flown fighter wing homestead ASB; Warren retired from the Air Force in 1998. After the Air Force, Warren opened his own practice as a dentist in Bellevue, Washington for five years.

Warren married Barbara Rodorff on March 22, 2003 in Seattle, Washington. Warren moved to the Silver Valley in 2003.

Warren was a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, a member of the Snohomish County Dental Society and a diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology. He received many medals and awards including the United States of America Notorious Service Medal for outstanding service in the Air Force. Warren was also an outstanding Boy Scout Leader receiving many awards. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Pinehurst, Idaho- his church meant so much to him.

Warren loved and enjoyed playing classical music by memory on the piano; he was also an accomplished artist and enjoyed painting and drawing.

Warren is survived by his wife Barbara Marttala of the family home of Pinehurst; three children Dr. Rafael Beier of Pinehurst, Jeanie Belbin of Harrison, Idaho, and David Jackson of Spokane Valley, Washington; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Pinehurst. A reception/luncheon will be held at the church following services.
