Dean Clark

Dean Clark suffered a stroke on Thursday morning, January 11th and passed away on January 16th at 10:28am due to a brain hemorrhage. His wife Terrie, son Jon, and step-daughter Jennifer were with him when he passed. He was visited by and loved by his family, many of whom were able to visit him at the Schneidmiller Hospice of North Idaho before he died.

Dean was born September 28, 1934 to Claude and Lois Clark in Juliaetta, Idaho and was raised on a farm in Upper Fix Ridge with his parents and three sisters. The family moved to Sullivan Lake in 1948 when he was 14. He began his mining career at the Grandview Mine, just north of Metaline Falls and was a hard-rock miner for over 40 years in many places, including the Sunshine Mine and Bunker Hill. After retiring, he worked at the Sierra Mine Tour driving the trolley and also volunteered at the Silverton Nursing Home playing music.

He was known for his ornery, comical sense of humor, his musical talent singing and playing lead guitar and other instruments, and his generosity with his family and friends.

Dean will be buried at the Metaline Cemetery in Washington. A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25th from 3pm to 5pm, followed by a graveside service Friday, January 26th at 1pm. There will be a memorial celebration at the Kellogg Senior Center later this spring.
