| July 30, 2018 12:29 AM

OSBURN – Shoshone County Fire District No. 1 reports that on July 30 at approximately 5:14 p.m., crews were toned out for a house on fire in the 400 block area of E. Idaho Ave. in Osburn.

Fire crews arrived on scene shortly after being dispatched and found the home’s owner with Osburn Police Chief, Darell Braaten. Both individuals were at the rear of the affected structure, spraying water from two garden hoses to keep the sizable fire from spreading.

After determining that no lives was in danger, firefighters quickly shifted their focus to saving the home and containing the blaze.

The fire was extinguished before it could spread to the rest of the home following the deployment of two hose lines and a consistent suppression effort.

Damage was limited to the exterior of the structure near the point of origin and slightly to the interior.

Firefighter John Miller stated that a quick response was a big factor in successfully keeping the fire from spreading.

Mullan Volunteer Fire Department assisted with operations during the fire and clean up.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident and no other structures were affected.

SCFD No. 1 states that the cause of fire appears to be human error with open flames from a grill near a structure. The homeowner was at home at the time of ignition.

Fire Chief Aaron Cagle would like to remind residents to practice safe outdoor grilling in these hot summer days.
