Former Miner gridiron star headed to Willamette University

Wallace High School football standout Jaden Dimitroff recently signed his letter of intent to go play football at Willamette University in Salem, Ore.
Dimitroff was a force for the Miners as a running back and also as one half of Wallace’s vaunted return specialists on special teams.
Dimitroff isn’t sure where he’ll be playing for the Bearcats, but feels his best fit will probably be in one of those aforementioned positions.
The decision was an easy one for Jaden as he was looking to continue playing, but also wanted to get a solid education.
“Willamette has a lot of history and has good academics programs,” Dimitroff said. “But they also have a good football program and it will give me a chance to keep playing.”
Dimitroff’s former coach Jared Young is excited for his former stud and believes that he has what it takes to succeed at the next level.
“Jaden was one of the hardest workers on the team, he put in his own time to help build himself as a player,” Young said. “He was a special player for us on and off the field. Very dependable, smart player, and I believe he will succeed at the next level. His work ethic will take him a long way. He is someone you can ask for anything and he will help you out. I was honored to coach him, and know him and we will miss him at Wallace.”
Dimitroff ran for 2,350 yards and 22 touchdowns in his Wallace career and also pulled in one Receiving touchdown.
He also tallied over 100 tackles and was a very good cover defensive back for the Miners.
Wallace athletic director Bruce Bailey was thrilled to hear of Dimitroff’s decision to continue on his education and athletics.
“Jaden always worked hard in football and I believe that gave him an competitive edge throughout high school. I also believe this has helped him with the opportunity to play college football,” Bailey said. “Wallace High School is proud of Jaden for his commitment to further his football career and education.”
Dimitroff will report to camp in August, but has already been working out to get back into football shape.
“I’m nervous and excited at the same time,” Dimitroff said. “This is another level for me and I need to be ready for the game speed.”
For anyone who has watched Dimitroff over the past few years, adjusting to a faster speed shouldn’t be too tough for him.
