Jack Edward Douglas, 64

Jack Edward Douglas, 64, of Mullan, Idaho, passed away June 12, 2018 at the family home of Mullan. He was born May 4, 1954 in Wallace, Idaho; Jack was the son of Jack and Norine (Elliott) Douglas.

Jack has lived in the Silver Valley all of his life. He attended and graduated from the Mullan High School of Mullan in 1972. Jack then attended the University of Idaho.

Jack married Valerie Cochrane on November 5, 1977 in Potlatch, Idaho.

Jack had first worked for the Galena Mine, until one of its closures in 1992. He then attended an apprenticeship program through the Operating Engineers. Jack then worked in road construction as a grade inspector for the union and various other construction companies including Steelman-Duff of Clarkston, Washington, Mortenson Knudtsen Company and the Del Hur Company.

Jack was a member of the Operating Engineers Union of Spokane, Washington, a member of the Mullan Volunteer Fire Department for many years before his retirement, a member of the Wallace Elks Lodge #331 and a member of the Mine Rescue, when working at the Galena Mine.

Jack loved and enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, reading and working in his shop. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting.

Jack is survived by his beloved wife of forty years Valerie Douglas of the family home of Mullan; one daughter Krystal (Chris) Morris of Mullan; three grandchildren Lacie, Kynlee and Wesley Morris; one sister Shelly (Rob) Olson of East Wenatchee, Washington; his mother-in-law Joan Cochrane of Potlatch, Idaho; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews and his extended family. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and one son Jack Robert Douglas.

A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Morning Club of Mullan; this will be potluck and everyone is welcome.
