James E. Hopkins, 90

James E. Hopkins, 90, of Wallace, Idaho, formerly of West Portsmouth, died Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born June 10, 1927, in Kingston to the late Orin Lindell Hopkins and Irma Rosalind Plummer Campbell. James was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and was a retired printer for McCalls Printing.

James was preceded in death by three wives, Louise Loretta McCabe, Joyce Elaine Cornett and Evelyn Kenyon Wallace; a daughter, Mary Louise (Ralph who survives) Perkins; two sisters, Betty Boren and Phyllis Shepherd; and three brothers, Keith, Robert and Clarence Hopkins.

Jim (Hoppy) Hopkins was an avid outdoorsman who loved to travel, and his life touched a large number of extended family, step-family, in-laws and close friends from Southern Ohio to Idaho’s Silver Valley. His story-telling, wisdom and keen intelligence, will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by four daughters, Judith Ann Cruea of Athens, Tenn., Rebecca Thelma Hopkins Ditmer of Athens, Janel Eloyce Pierson of New Durham, N.H., and Joann Evonne Kern of Kittery Point, Maine; a brother, David Campbell of Lyons, Ga.; a sister, Penelope Mavridoglou of Cincinnati, Ohio; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
