KPD Roll Call June 12-19

•Foot patrol throughout the city conducting business checks.

•Dispatched to city park for a report of juveniles consuming alcohol and smoking cigarettes. Made contact with a group and did not discover any of these claims. However, the group informed me they were just involved in a battery. Spoke with both parties & guardians regarding the issue. No guardians from both parties wished to pursue charges.

•Attempted to speak with an individual over the phone who was wanting contact from law enforcement. I was unable to establish contact and a voicemail was left to return my call.

•K74 & K77 assisted ISP at their request with a multi-vehicle crash at mile post 36 of I-90. Handled the call until we were relieved by ISP.

•Attended the Wardner city council meeting. The candy jug was replenished.

•A walk-in report regarding a hit and run on McKinley. Cleared report taken.

•Mobile patrols of Kellogg and Wardner.

•Traffic stop Legion/Hill. Fail to obey traffic control device (improper right turn off Railroad and Hill). Verbal warning.

•Assist Osburn PD with attempting to locate address in Smelterville. Could not find address.

•Assist County with possible situation in Wallace. Canceled prior to arrival.

•Internet was down for the day, but some how we survived.

•Report of a semi-trailer jackknifed up at the top of Wardner. Turned out to be a car hauler loaded with cars. The semi was jackknifed and high centered at the turnaround. Now this truck was stuck. After K75 and K76 scratched their heads for a bit then they decided to call Nickerson Towing to help get the semi unstuck and turned around. Driver said that he was just following his map app. Another reason not to trust Google maps.

•Patrolled Kellogg and Wardner.

•Called to the Bunker apartments for a loud cat. Feline was Code 4.

•Advised by a Wardner resident that she has been seeing bear droppings. She wasn’t concerned, just wanted to let us know. She was advised to keep her picnic baskets indoors...

•Traffic stop on the 49 westbound on ramp for following too close. Cleared verbal.

•Traffic stop on Bunker for stop sign violation. Verbal.

•Traffic stop in the Cameron Conoco parking lot for expired registration. Verbal.

•LL request regarding stolen purse. Store where purse went missing from called and said they had it for safe keeping. Cleared public assist.

•Paper service. Cleared paper served.

•Traffic stop on Station Ave. Cleared verbal warning.

•Patrolled Kellogg and Wardner.

•Attempt To Locate (ATL) missing child from Emerald Division. Upon my arrival, child was found sleeping in a pile of clothes in the closet. Cleared, Necessary Action Taken (NAT).

•Assisted in a lost juvenile with K75 on Beryl St.

•Conducted foot patrol at Silver Mt.

•Assisted K74 with a warrant arrest on Gold St.

•Citizen contact on the top of Sierra Nevada. Spoke with a group of individuals hanging out around a fire. No alcohol was present or consumed & the few juveniles that was there were warned about curfew.

•Completed the blockbuster in fork knife, so I have that going for me.

•Attempted follow-up on investigations (no answer at residence).

•Warrant service 200 block of Gold (saw the person at Yoke’s). Arrested Franklin Beck on his warrant. Report completed.

•Traffic stop Bunker/Cameron, verbal for headlight. When stopping the vehicle, made them aware they are having issues with taillights as well (one turns off completely when the brakes are used).

•Report of theft at SMC. Someone’s smoking device was taken. Statement given and follow-up will continue next week. No report generated at this time.

•Assist K72 with his arrest from earlier (transport).

•Landline for issues at 400 block of Bunker between neighbors. Non-criminal at this time. Peace restored

•Landline for issues involving animals 400 block of Bunker. Cleared peace restored.

•Landline for possible stolen property. Victim advised possible suspect was leaving a location and he was attempting to get a license plate. This is from my case and he was advised to add the information to his statement and it will be followed up later (as suspect was no longer there). He did not see the property but was told the subject may or may not have the property.

•911 hang-up with female subject asking for help. GPS placed the call coming from the bike path near Galena Ridge (48.4). Contacted 2 subjects walking on the bike path- intoxicated. When asked what was going on, female said she did not want to talk and walked away. Spoke with male that stated they were walking home and were yelling at one another. Nothing criminal and male declined a ride.

•Assist county with building search 200 block of Hill Street in Smelterville. Neighbors reported subjects in and/or around vacant home. Building checked and secured without incident.

•Traffic stop in the Cameron Conoco parking lot. Verbal for stop sign.

•Called to the 700 block of McKinley for a possible unlawful entry, thought they heard someone in the house. Home was cleared no one inside. Cleared NAT.

•Citizen contact in front of longshot for two people pushing a four wheeler. Told to wait till the day do get gas. NAT.

•Tagged a vehicle on Riverside Ave. Red ford pickup.

•Motorist Assist in the RV dump Station. Cleared public assist.

•Motorist Assist in the yokes parking lot, individuals had a friend coming to help already. Cleared NAT.

•Welfare check on man sitting in vehicle in front of Ace Hardware, subject was code 4. Cleared Public Assist.

•Citizen contact with bicycle with no light. Was advised he needed one to ride and night.

•Citizen contact in the Dave Smith motors parking lot. Young kid made his mom pull over before going to the hotel to look at the Corvettes.

•Assisted county in attempting to locate truck doing burnouts and donuts near the end of East Portland. Cleared UTL.

•Foot patrol of Mission, Hill St, and bike path.

•Extra Patrol around the park and the odd fellows shelter.

•Cleared some debris off the interstate.

•Citizen contacts near Cindy Carlson Realty, 100 block Kellogg Ave, 200 block Main St Kellogg, 100 block of Elder Ave.

•Collected statement form for K74.

•Follow up on the arrest K72 made from the previous day.

•Traffic stop near 800 block of S Division for no front plate. The vehicle ended up having plates attached to it for a different vehicle. K72 advised the driver he was going to tow the vehicle and while conducting tow inventory of the vehicle, K72 found drug paraphernalia. K72 also found a male hiding in the back of the van under a large black duffle bag.... pucker alert.... responsible party was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and cited for fictitious plates and no insurance. Cleared report taken.

•Traffic stop on 300 block of W Cameron for speed. Cleared citation issued.

•Traffic stop on 100 block of Railroad with one of the motorcyclists for speeding. Advised him road laws still apply to him.... Cleared verbal.

•Arrested and adult male for battery.

•Assist K72 with a road rage that turned into a battery case on S Division.

•Dispatched to a welfare check on E. Idaho on five juveniles. Located juveniles near the Chamber of Commerce building. They all took off running, but then decided it was not gonna work out so they walked back to me. Transported juveniles home, turned them over to their guardians and verbally warned them about curfew.

•Traffic stop on Utah St. and Riverside for no turn signal, driver ended up being suspended and had two warrants out of Kootenai county. Cleared arrest.

•Traffic stop on Elm St. and E Idaho for no plates on ATV while on a public roadway. Driver ended up being suspended as well but while writing him a citation, I was dispatched to a fight in progress at E Market and S Division. Suspect vehicle ended up leaving the scene which led to an ATL on that truck. Cleared report taken.

•Traffic stop on 200 block W Cameron for no plates, vehicle had temp registration and driver was valid. Cleared verbal.

•Walk-in who wanted information on her no contact order and how to get it canceled. Cleared public assist.

•Lots of patrol through downtown Kellogg.

•Follow up on lots of reports and evidence.

•Landline regarding a domestic even that happened around 6/10 in the Silver Mtn parking lot. Advised the reporting party to come into The PD to get more information about the event.

•Called to the Gondolier for a welfare check/possible DUI. Driver turn out to be DUI. Arrested driver for DUI and open container. Said driver refused both FSE’s and the breath test. Turns out he was arrested for DUI four days earlier in Illinois. Thinking his trip is becoming very expensive.

•While patrolling around the city, K77 observed tire marks which appeared to have been from a vehicle crash on the Hill St. near the football field. Saw a tire lying in the middle of the road as well, which turned out to be the spare. Vehicle appeared to have been peeling out on McKinley/Hill St. when it lost control and over corrected, slamming into the curb. K77 later located the vehicle involved in the parking lot of Railroad (Pickup had popped a tire from striking the curb). After searching, I was unable to locate a driver for the vehicle. KPD has the spare tire if the driver wants to come pick it up.
