Runaway juvenile found
WALLACE — The Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reports that a runaway juvenile from the Pinehurst area was located Wednesday night in Spokane by Spokane Police.
On Wednesday, Feb. 28 2018, a post began to circulate on Facebook from a group called “For The Missing: Pacific Northwest” stating that 15- year old Shoshana Stevenson was missing and last seen in the Pinehurst area on Feb. 20. The missing person post originated from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
SCSO Undersheriff Holly Lindsey clarified in a news release on Thursday that much of the information surrounding that post was not accurate.
According to SCSO, Stevenson left her temporary place of residence in the Pinehurst area on her own accord on Feb. 20 at approximately 12 p.m. She was believed to be avoiding authorities in the Spokane area.
The circumstances of the case did not allow for an Amber Alert to be initiated, as it did not fit the criteria.
Since this is still an active investigation involving a juvenile, law enforcement is not legally able to release much of the information pertaining to the case.
SCSO had been working closely with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office to locate Stevenson since she was reported as a runaway.
Lindsey was pleased to see Stevenson found safe.
“As a parent myself, I absolutely loathe these nail biting cases,” She said. “I couldn’t be happier that she was located is getting the help she needs.”
