Esther Mae Philp, 82

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Esther Mae (Mohr) Philp, 82, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away March 2, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living of Coeur d’Alene. Esther was born on April 21, 1935 in Superior, Montana to Mel and Bertha (Decker) Mohr.

Esther moved to the Silver Valley at a young age with her family. She attended and graduated from Wallace High School in 1954.

On April 27, 1956, Esther was united in marriage to William John Philp, Jr. in Wallace, Idaho. William passed away on February 24, 1997.

Esther retired after twenty-two years as manager of the Idaho State Liquor Store in Wallace. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, boating, camping and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who she loved dearly. Esther was a member of the Wallace Lady Elks and was honored as Idaho State Lady Elk of the Year in 2004-05. She and Bill were also members of the Mountaineer Motorcycle Club.

Esther is survived by seven children, William John (Maria) Philp, Roger Lee (Martha) Philp, Peggy Ann (Andy) Jacobs, Donald Joe (Deb) Philp, Julie Irene (Andy) Hanson, Neil Roy (Dilenia) Philp and Michael Eugene Philp; fifteen grandchildren, Johnny Philp, Danny Philp, Brian Philp, Kenneth Philp, Shannon Bryson Diges, Christy Bryson Foster, Kate Philp Burke, Jim Philp, Kale Philp Fenter, TJ Philp, Jeff Hanson, Anna Hanson Groom, Joan Philp Robinson, Jenny Philp Sandoval, and Elliot Philp; twenty-five great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.

Esther is also survived by three siblings; Joyce Mohr Green, Patty Mohr Nielson and Jim Mohr. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William; her son, Terry Michael Philp, and four siblings; Bud Mohr, Tope Mohr, Lois Mohr Faber and Neil Mohr.

A Celebration of Esther’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00am at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel of Kellogg. Internment will follow services at the Greenwood Cemetery. A reception of family and friends will follow services at the Wallace Elks.
