Alden King Brown, 65
Alden King Brown has left the building. Gone from his apartment and the constraints of this mortal world at age 65. Born April 4, 1952, passing peaceful September 22, 2017.
Alden was the second of 4 children born to Ernest D. Brown and Elaine M. Brown of Port Hueneme, California. Alden leaves behind 3 sisters: Starr Callies of Silverton, Idaho; Twyla Barbosa of Santa Clarita, California; Dawn McLeod of Ventura, California; his daughter, Nicole Brown Cathey and two grandchildren, all of San Luis Obisbo, California. He is also survived by 4 nephews and 2 nieces. Alden was generous of heart and our family will miss him.
Two words describe Alden perfectly...funny and interesting.
When he was in his 40’s, Alden had a pet turkey named Thomasinna. Alden took Thomasinna to the local elementary school in Somis, California during November to show children what a great pet she was. Most kids had never seen a turkey before, except, perhaps, on a platter.
Alden was giving with his time and, also gave his family unexpected gifts, such as 2 wooden wheels from an old fire truck, and 1 red fire hydrant that was cemented in the patio for the dog. He gave beautiful gifts like a Limoges jewelry box and a lovely set of earrings to one of his sisters.
The thing Alden loved most was fireworks and always had some for special occasions. Alden observed fireworks at 65 with the same fascination as when he was 5 years old. He was in awe of the sound and all the sparkles. From 1992-2005 while living in Somis , California he grew an amazing garden. All year he would have the nicest selection of vegetables and flowers. He was generous with this bounty giving much to friends and family. Alden always had fresh flowers on his kitchen table.
He loved gardening so much he helped start a community garden in Silverton, Idaho.
Recently, his happiest days were spent riding around Wallace, Idaho in his blue electric
wheelchair with a big grin on his face. For the first time in a long time Alden is now at peace.
Alden’s dad gave Alden a watch for his graduation which was engraved
with “Vaya con Dios ”. We are confident he now truly does “Go with God”.
