Volunteers helped get the old bleachers torn down so that new boards could be put into place.

After a few years of sitting idle, Morehouse Field in Osburn, is slowly making its way back to being playable.

A few local volunteers have been working during their free time to get the historic field back up to snuff.

"We just wanted to give the kids a place to play ball," Kit Pearson said. "When the field was being taken care of by (the late) Bob Schreiber you could tell that he really cared about it. And we want to try to get it back to that."

Beside just getting various aspects of the field back into playable shape, the group has been working to get the facilities and grandstands ready for spectators as well.

We'll get to see firsthand how their labor has paid off this weekend when the field hosts its first game of the season on Saturday.

The weekend's hardball festivities will begin at noon, and will feature a double header with local 11-13 year olds.

Morehouse Field is one of the Valley's most beloved sports venues and the Shoshone News Press will be looking for interested parties to help put together a historical look at the field.
