Shoshone County District No. 1 Commissioner Candidate: Ellery W. Masterson
Ellery W. Masterson (D), 67, is running for the position of District 1 Shoshone County Commissioner and if voted in, wants to get all elected officials back to working together for the good of the county.
“I believe the county should be run by all three commissioners, not just one,” he says. “I would strive to accomplish that by working together with the other commissioners to achieve that goal.”
Masterson is the challenger in this primary election for the position.
Originally from Montana and the third youngest of 11 children, Masterson currently resides in Kellogg with his wife, Ellen. Their combined family has five children and 13 grandchildren.
He says that his greatest achievement “would be my children and grandchildren, being proud of who they have become and who they will become.”
His education includes a degree from North Idaho College and a diploma from Lakeland High School.
On the work experience side of things, Masterson is a retired bricklayer/stonemason. He has worked for companies in the foreman position and ran crews of all sizes to construct schools, million dollar homes and large commercial buildings of all sorts.
He is running for the position with the mentality that “you receive experience in the job you are doing. I believe we all learn something new every day.”
If elected, Masterson says that he will strictly adhere to the four-day work week commissioners have, but is open to changing this set schedule up while saving money.
“Could it possibly be a three-day work week with a decrease in commissioner salary accordingly?”
