Steve Rife, 64

Steve was born in Boise, Idaho to Wayne and Bernice (Bea) Rife on October 26, 1953. The family moved to Wallace the same year and opened Runge Furniture with Floyd Runge the same year. Steve grew up in Wallace and graduated from Wallace High School in 1972. He married Shelly White of Osburn after he graduated and they had two daughters Kristi and Julie. He worked with his parents selling furniture until the mines and Bunker Hill started closing. His parents closed the store and retired. He packed up his family and moved to Bethel, Alaska where he worked selling furniture. He then moved to Arizona and became a corrections officer at Arizona State Penitentiary, after that he came back to Wallace and worked as a sheriff’s deputy for Shoshone County until his health started to fail him. Steve married his second wife Mary in 2002 and moved to Sandpoint where he worked as a golf marshall at StoneRidge Golf Course until his illness overtook his ability to work. He passed away on May 4, 2018 from diabetes complications.

Steve loved fly fishing the upper North Fork of the Coeur d’ Alene River. He loved basketball, golf, and sports of all kinds.

Steve is survived by his wife Mary, his friend and brother Rick Zent, four children Julie, Kristi, Tammy and Robert and fourteen grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of Steve’s life on May 19, 2018 at 2605 E. Settlement Road, Priest River, Idaho. Open House from 1pm-3pm.
