Tony Strasser, 79

| May 29, 2018 4:11 PM

Tony passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Ivy Court Rehab in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Tony was born June 29, 1938 in Northampton, Pennsylvania and grew up on a farm that he often talked about. After graduating high school he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Arizona where he met Patti and married in November 1961. Although newlyweds, Tony finished his service term overseas in Okinawa.

Shortly afterwards, Tony and Patti moved to Southern California in 1963 where they began their family, started his own heavy equipment mechanic business, Mobile Diesel Service, and formed lifelong friendships. They enjoyed lots of neighborhood get-togethers where he was the life of the party.

Wanting a simpler life they moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1979, reestablished Mobile Diesel Service, fulfilled his dream of building his own home and added many more lifelong friends. No matter where we went he would run into somebody he knew and was known for his storytelling and playful grin. Tony’s hobbies included motorcycle riding, stream fishing, bowling, playing cards, raising horses and foul, peacocks being his favorite.

Through all his medical problems he didn’t let it dim his spirit or love of life. Tony is survived by Patti, his wife of 56 years; his children: Mike Strasser, Dave Strasser and Debbie Stephens; his grandchildren: Summer Lee-Muir, Mariah Stephens, Hannah Stephens, Anton Strasser; and his great grandchild Connor Muir.

A service for Tony was held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
