Half truths by the Hansens, vote Beehner for Commissioner

| November 1, 2018 3:36 PM

Yet again, another half-truth presented as fact by a member of John Hansen’s family.

In December of 2017, Matt Beehner submitted a complaint to the State of Idaho Office of the Attorney General, who handles complaints against elected officials. In November of 2017, the Commissioner’s voted to give all County employees 3 paid leave days.

Matt’s complaint was against a Commissioner who participated in this vote even though he was related to two County employees who would benefit from this action, which Matt felt was a conflict of interest. The Attorney General’s Office (OAG) investigated the conflict of interest complaint, which then triggered a secondary investigation, on the OAG’s part, into when the relatives of this Commissioner were hired. The OAG’s secondary investigation resulted in one relative being forced to resign.

Matt put a copy of his complaint, along with a copy of the OAG’s response, on his Facebook political page. It shows what Matt’s complaint was and that it was not directed at the employment of either relative, even though the OAG ultimately determined the hiring of one of the relatives was unlawful. To view these photos please visit his Facebook page Beehner for County Commissioner -District No. 3.

Matt has spoken to the young man who was forced to resign since this took place and he read a copy of Matt’s complaint online and said he understood the complaint was not against him as he was led to believe.

This complaint has been on Matt’s Facebook page for over 2 months and John Hansen knew what Matt’s complaint actually was; however, he has allowed his family to continue to spread these false statements about Matt’s character. Is this the type of person you want representing you? Someone who will try to tarnish a person’s character just to win?

Please be sure to vote for Accountability for Shoshone County on Tuesday!
