The 7th annual Kellogg Christmas Lighting Festival is next Saturday, Nov. 24, and with the plethora of events going on throughout the day, there should be something for everyone.

The day’s festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. with the craft fair at the Papa’s Barn building in uptown Kellogg, which will run until 3 p.m.

Across town at the Staff House Museum, Santa Claus will be on hand to take pictures, enjoy cookies and live music from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The actual lighting festival portion of the day will kick off with a parade at 5 p.m.

The parade will run from the North Idaho College building on Main Street and follow a route all the way down to the Silver Mountain Resort base.

Once the parade has wrapped up at Silver Mountain, the festivities will begin there.

The annual tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. with live music and refreshments, as well as the announcing of the parade winners and several prize giveaways.

After all the activities have concluded, there will be a big holiday firework show for everyone to enjoy.

Free cookies, cocoa and cider will be available to people at the lighting ceremony.

Following the lighting activities, there will be a free movie screening at the base of Silver Mountain near the waterpark entrance.

“We want the event to be the biggest and best ever,” Silver Valley Chamber Director Mallory Phillips said. “We also wanted an emphasis to be on the uptown area of Kellogg. It’s just such a great area and businesses are coming back up there and we want people to go and check out what’s new.”

The chamber is also looking for volunteers to help work throughout the event.

The Kellogg Christmas Lighting Festival is put on by the Historic Silver Valley Chamber of Commerce. For more information, to register for the parade or volunteer, visit the chamber office at 10 E. Station Ave. in Kellogg, or call them at 208-784-0821.
