Career car thieves arrested near Rose Lake
ROSE LAKE — Two suspects were taken into custody by Idaho State Police Sunday morning for driving a stolen vehicle.
ISP Sgt. Sean Lind reports that troopers started looking for the stolen vehicle after they received a tip that it was passing through the Coeur d’Alene area on the morning of Nov. 18.
After spotting the car heading eastbound on Interstate 90 near the Veterans Memorial Bridge, the discovering trooper began to tail the vehicle until backup arrived.
“We followed it to the other side of the pass until we had enough troopers there to assist with a traffic stop,” Lind said.
It was finally near Rose Lake where the troopers made their move.
Other than providing false identities, the two suspects cooperated and were taken into custody without incident.
The vehicle the suspects were driving was reported stolen out of Los Angeles, Calif.
The identities of the suspects were not readily available due to them providing false information. After their fingerprints had been ran though, it was discovered that the male is Shawn G. Rucker and the female is Sherita Reece.
Sgt. Lind stressed both suspects have a lengthy criminal history.
“They are career thieves and that was an easy means of transportation for getting around,” he said.
The duo were booked into the Kootenai County Jail and are being charged with possession of a stolen vehicle (felony), use or possession of drug paraphernalia and providing false information.
Rucker also has a felony warrant out of Wisconsin and Reece has a felony warrant out of Indiana.
