James I. Walker, 68

| October 4, 2018 12:29 PM

James “Jim or JW” Walker passed away on October 2, 2018. Jim was born in January 1950 in Wallace, Idaho, to Charles Walker and Patsy (Harlan) Walker.

Jim attended Wallace High School, where he was very active in the high school band and choir, graduating in 1968. He was also in the DeMolay Wallace chapter. He married Lana Lindberg, and the couple had two children.

Jim spent most of his career logging in the mountains of Northern Idaho; he also worked for the railroad and was a nurse’s aide. He enjoyed listening to Paul Harvey on the radio and watching the deer and birds. His happiest times were spent on Mopher Hill, the ranch he called home for more than three decades. He loved all animals, particularly his horse, Blaze.

Jim is survived by his son Leland Walker and daughter-in-law Kayleen Walker of Harrison, Idaho, as well as daughter Laura (Walker) Chess and son-in-law Brian Chess of Mount Pleasant, Michigan. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Joseph Walker, Jasmine (Walker) Smith, Jakayla Walker, Nicholas Chess, and Rachel Chess; and his sister Margaret (Walker) Yuhas and brother-in-law David Yuhas of Florence, Montana. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and grandmother Mary Payne Harlan.

The family would like to thank the staff of LaCrosse Health and Rehabilitation and the hospice nurses who provided care for Jim.

Funeral services are not planned at this time.
