| October 24, 2018 3:00 AM

John Hansen, 72, is running for the position of District No. 3 position of Shoshone County Commissioner and is hoping to continue his work for the residents of the county while learning all he can.

“The last two years I have had the pleasure of being your commissioner, but two years is not enough time to learn everything,” he said. “I feel I am qualified to continue doing this job and learning for the betterment of the county.”

Hansen (D), the incumbent, is running against challenger Matt Beehner (I).

He has been married for 54 years and has three children, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. His education includes a high school diploma from Wallace High School and one year at North Idaho College.

A Silver Valley native, Hansen has 35 years of business experience in the Silver Valley, including being the co-owner Sam Brooks Rentals, an accountant, a meat cutter, a grocery store owner and a motorman at the Star Mine for two years.

Most recently he has held the position of District No. 3 County Commissioner for the last two years.

If reelected, Hansen wishes to continue working with all elected officials, employees and residents to help them with any issues they may have.

“I will talk to people on a one-on-one basis and will always try to answer any questions or concerns.”
