Beehner is not qualified for commissioner position

Earlier this year Matt Beehner made a complaint to the Attorney General’s office in Boise accusing County Commission John Hansen of Illegal conduct. Beehner claimed that Hansen violated the law when Sheriff Mike Gunderson hired Johnny Ramirez as Deputy Sheriff. Hansen did not hire Johnny and had nothing to do with hire. Johnny is his grandson.

The Attorney General’s office threatened to file criminal charges against Hansen if he did not resign from office. Hansen employed a private attorney and that attorney advised Hansen that he did not feel Hansen violated any Idaho Statutes and valid defenses were available to Hansen if any changes were filed against him. Johnny learned of the threatened action and rather than put his grandfather through the stress, pressure and expense of defending any criminal charges that might be filed, he resigned his position with the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnny was valuable deputy and veteran of three combat tours serving his country in the Middle East. He served two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He was a frontline combat soldier and honorably discharged from the Army.

Upon Johnny’s discharge he worked in various location and finally settled in Wallace to be near his daughter. He decided to pursue a career law enforcement, following in the footsteps of his father, John Ramirez, who served for many as a Shoshone County Deputy Sheriff. Because of the petty acts and conduct of Beehner, Shoshone County has lost another Deputy Sheriff and our County is once again having to “eat” the cost of sending a deputy through the Post Academy to be certified for work in law enforcement.

Is this how a candidate for the County Commissioner’s position should treat veterans? Is this the type of person that you want representing you and drawing a paycheck out of your tax dollars?

I urge you to vote for John Hansen as Commissioner.
