Come honor the firefighters at the farmer's market
Courtesy photo The Silver Valley Farmers Market will host a celebration on Thursday at their weekly market honoring the firefighters who fought the McConnell Hotel fire.
Thursday evening the local firefighters will be honored with a ceremony at the Silver Valley Farmers Market.
The ceremony is tied to the one-year anniversary of the McConnell Hotel, which was on Aug. 30. Officials thought it would be a good way to remember one of the darker days in Kellogg’s history.
“We just want to thank them for all that they do for us,” Juli Zook said. “We are going to have a nice ceremony with fire chief Mark Aamodt, who was on scene that day last August, and we just want everyone to come out and celebrate these guys for keeping us safe.”
Vendors and guests alike will have the availability to leave a donation for the firefighters, whether monetary or by purchasing some of the awesome products being sold by the many vendors at the market itself.
The ceremony and all of the events honoring the firefighters will begin at the same time as the market at 5 p.m. Festivities will continue throughout the three-hour long event.
“We hope to see as many people out there as possible and we just want there to be an abundance of love and thanks for those who keep us safe,” Zook said.
The Silver Valley Farmers Market is still going strong and will continue to do so well into October. Each week there is live music and this week features the return of local favorite Robby French.
As always there will be locally brewed beer on tap in the beer garden, as well as several food, drink and fun item options for shoppers and attendees to enjoy.
