Items recovered, suspects arrested in burglary case
WALLACE – Several local victims of theft and burglary will soon be seeing their lost possessions again after Shoshone County Sheriff’s deputies recovered multiple items that were taken from Silver Valley homes.
SCSO detective Jeff Lee reports that on Thursday, Sept. 6, several chainsaws, firearms, and a concrete saw were collected from pawn shops in Spokane, Wash. and Hayden, Idaho that belong to local victims across Shoshone County. In addition to the recoveries, arrests were made on 19 year-old Justin Stevenson of Pinehurst and 19 year-old Zane Jackson of Kellogg in connection with the crimes on Sept. 2-3. Both men are being charged with counts of criminal conspiracy, burglary, petit and grand theft.
Det. Lee states that other local burglaries were discussed by the suspects during their interviews after being arrested. It is also believed that the two suspects in custody did not act alone and SCSO is looking into leads to determine who else was involved.
Regardless of whether or not someone was affected by these burglars in particular, it is not a bad idea to be vigilant and take certain precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen to you.
“The Sheriff’s office would like to remind the citizens to keep track of serial numbers, makes, models and even photograph your property,” Lee added. “Not only for insurances reasons but having that information available will help law enforcement identify and recover items if you are ever a victim to those types of crime.”
It is also recommended to lock your homes, outbuildings and vehicles while also being sure to report any suspicious person(s) or vehicles to law enforcement.
