Work on the City of Kellogg’s Sewer Rehabilitation and Replacement Project continues. On Phase Ill, crews are busy preparing roads on Teddy and Park Ave., Idaho and Main Street for paving on September 18th, 19th and 20th. The next scheduled pave out will be weather dependent and should occur in early October.

Phase III pipe crews should be done on Hill Street by the time this appears in the paper. They will then begin working in the basketball courts near Teeter’s Field. From there they will move to State Street and the alleyways behind Bunker Ave.

Phase Il continues with their efforts north of 1-90. Crews continue working on Hill Street with storm line replacement from Elder Ave to Italian Gulch. Crews will be working on water main from Elder Ave. to Cathryn Ave. on Hill Street. In addition, sewer service repair work will be done on Hill Street from Mission Ave. to Elder Ave.

Once waterline installation work is completed on Elder Ave. crews will move to Mission Ave. to begin storm line repairs from near the Head Start school east towards Helen Street. Road work in preparation for paving is occurring on Division Street, Cameron Ave. and Mullan Ave. The pave out scheduled for September 18th has been rescheduled to occur on September 24th, 25th and 26th.

Road work will then move to Mission Ave. where curbing will be set and fine grading will occur in preparation for paving. The next pave out is scheduled for mid- October. This final pave out for the 2018 construction season will be weather dependent and will not occur if the weather does not cooperate.

Local schools are now in session and I am asking that everyone watch out for young children as they make their way to bus stops and then on to school.

Please be safe. Obey road closure signs and drive carefully around and through active construction areas. Watch out for pedestrians and especially young children and pets. Remember, operators of heavy equipment may have blind spots that make it hard to see vehicles and pedestrians so give them plenty of room to maneuver. Please be patient with all that is going on and don’t be afraid to say thank you to those who are working hard on your behalf.

Parents, please remind your children to avoid active construction zones and to not play on material piles placed throughout the area.

Anyone needing special assistance related to the sewer project or who may have questions or concerns should contact Mr. Craig Lewis, Superintendent of Public Works at (208) 786-9131. On weekends, holidays and after work hours you may contact Mr. Lewis by calling the Shoshone County Sheriffs Dispatch at (208) 556-1114 and ask that they contact him for you.
