BIG CREEK — Earlier this month, the Shoshone Golf Course hosted their annual Club Championship at the course in Big Creek.

The event didn’t disappoint as Dayne Evenson and Tyler Johnson battled it out in a sudden playoff that took three holes to decide with Evenson the becoming the eventual champion.

Brent Clearman with the Shoshone Golf Course was on hand for all of the action and enjoyed the competitiveness of the end of summer event.

“Going into the final day of competition, five players were in real contention; Ron Sink, Rocky Therrian, Dayne Evenson, Carter Wardwell and Tyler Johnson. Defending champion Carter Wardwell had a one shot lead after posting a solid 73 on day one,” Clearman said. “Carter played great Sunday, but the young guns Evenson and Johnson chipped away at Carter’s lead and they were the ones left playing for the championship coming into the 36th hole of play.”

The drama really unfolded on the 36th hole after both Evenson and Johnson were forced to sink long putts to stay in contention, ultimately it was Johnson narrowly missing his 22-foot attempt while Evenson sunk his 14-foot attempt to seal the deal.

The Shoshone Golf Club members had also recently won the Miller Cup in their rivalry match with the Pinehurst Golf Club. Shoshone Golf Course is still open and being maintained, and Clearman believes that right now it’s in the best condition of the season.
