KELLOGG — Earlier this month the Silver Valley Fuller Center for Housing hosted their 21st annual Walk-A-Thon at the Kellogg School District Community Center.

The walk is one of the Fuller Center’s biggest fundraisers of the year, and this year was no different.

The Walk-A-Thon was attended by several locals, but several local elected officials made appearances at the event to show their support for the Fuller Center.

Kellogg mayor Mac Pooler, along with Shoshone County Commissioners Mike Fitzgerald and John Hansen attended the event, which has become a community staple during its two-decade run.

Each one of the 22 participants received a special door prize, which wouldn’t have happened had it not been for the Silver Valley’s generous businesses.

“Due to the community generosity, all participants received a door prize ranging from certificates at spas and salons, museum passes, dinners, car washes, jewelry, pet food, to a $50 gift card from Building Maintenance and $100 certificate from Silver Streak Zipline,” Silver Valley Fuller Center for Housing director Judy Blalack said. “There were prizes for kids too.”

Participants were given a 1.5-mile course to walk and had the liberty to walk as much as they could handle.

The event was a success for the Fuller Center, which raised $1,317 which is used to buy building materials and supplies for the center’s housing ministry.
