By the time this appears in the paper the latest pave outs associated with the City of Kellogg’s Sewer rehabilitation and Replacement Project will have been completed. While another round of paving is planned, all future paving will be weather dependent.

Phase III sewer crews are working in the alleyways south of Bunker Ave. They will then move to lower Third Street in and around Railroad Ave. and on to Legion Ave. The road crew is working on Railroad Ave. west of Hill Street. This section of Railroad Ave. along with Hill Street near Teeters Field, the basketball courts and a portion of Teddy Ave. are currently scheduled to be paved during the first week of October.

Work in and around the Rails to Trails also continues. Once completed, this area will prepared for paving in the last pave out of the season. This effort is scheduled for the last week of October and as mentioned previously is weather dependent.

Work on Phase II also continues north of I-90. The road on Mission Ave. from Hill Street to Division Street is being prepared for curbing to be installed during the first week in October. Howard St and Elder Ave. west of Hill Street will be prepared for the next pave out if the weather allows.

Sewer work continues north of Mission Ave. in the area of North Ave. and Italian Gulch. Sewer work in this area should be finished by the second week in October. Yet this week, work to install waterline will begin on Elder Ave. east of Hill Street.

Please be safe. Watch out for children headed for school. Obey road closure signs, and drive carefully around and through active construction zones. Watch out for pedestrians and especially young children and pets. Remember, operators of heavy equipment may have blind spots that make it hard to see vehicles and pedestrians so give them plenty of room to maneuver. Please be patient with all that is going on and don’t be afraid to say thank you to those who are working hard on your behalf.

Parents, please remind your children to avoid active construction areas and to not play on material piles placed throughout the area.

Anyone needing special assistance with the sewer project or who may have questions or concerns should contact Mr. Craig Lewis, Superintendent of Public Works at (208) 786-9131. On weekends, holidays and after work hours you may contact Mr. Lewis by calling the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (208) 556-1114 and ask that they contact him for you.
