Panhandle Basin Advisory Group seeks new members
COEUR d’ALENE — The Panhandle Basin Advisory Group is seeking a recreation representative-at-large, agriculture representative, and conservation or environmental interest member to be part of a group of 11 citizens who advise the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality on water quality objectives in Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai and Shoshone counties.
The members will represent the Panhandle region’s public interests and should be involved with water quality issues in the area and familiar with local watersheds.
BAG members are appointed by the DEQ director. State law requires that they represent a cross section of interests in the basin, such as agriculture, forestry, municipalities, industry, recreation, tribes, environmental interests and the general public.
The BAG meets periodically throughout the year. Members are unpaid, but are reimbursed for travel expenses.
Persons interested in serving on the BAG should submit a letter of interest to Thomas Herron in DEQ’s Coeur d’Alene Regional Office by April 19 at thomas.herron@deq.idaho.gov.
