KELLOGG — The annual triathlon known as Leadman is right around the corner and Silver Mountain is still looking for registrations for singles or team competitors.

This year marks Leadman’s 15th anniversary and like the 14 years before, the event is being used to put money back into the Silver Valley community.

“Leadman is a Rotary event and in the past 14 years, the Kellogg Rotary Club, along with its valued sponsors have raised over $118,000 to provide funding for community projects and nonprofit organizations, such as the health and wellness fairs, youth sports organizations and clubs, animal rescues, community improvement projects, Special Olympics, the backpack lunch program, and many more,” said Jeff Colburn, Silver Mountain general manager. “One hundred percent of the proceeds from Leadman go to local charities.”

The event will be held on Saturday, April 21, and will begin on Kellogg Peak, where competitors will kick the race off with a 1-mile ski and snowboard run where they will transition into the mountain bike portion of the competition before capping the race off with a 4-5 mile run to the finish line.

For spectators, the race has seen completion times as fast as 50 minutes and right around two hours to get the last racers across the finish line.

The races begin at 11 a.m., but there will be plenty of activities for families to do at the Silver Mountain base throughout the day.

Registration can be completed online, or by printing out the entry form and waivers on Silver Mountain’s website and mailing it to the address on the form along with payment. Early bird pricing ends after April 11, and registration ends on April 17.
