BLAST FROM THE PAST: Good turnout reported for valley Little League

Regardless of snow falling on Tuesday there was a good turnout for the Little League and minor league try outs held this week.
Rich Leep, president of the local Little League Association, said he plans on about 200 boys and girls playing ball this season.
There will be six Little League and six more minor league teams.
Each Little League team will have a manager and coach and the minor league teams will each have a coach.
Each Little League team will have 14 players and all members of the teams are required to play two innings, Leep said.
Wallace is a chartered member of the national Little League Association, Leep said. “This is because you can get benefits like insurance for less money than if they were organized into a separate league.”
There will be an all star team made from the teams within the league that will play seven other teams in regional playoffs, the winner of this tournament will go to state playoffs held sometime in July.
The first game of the season is scheduled for May 7, at 4 p.m. when Gyro will meet Hecla.
