Gloves up! It's time for Fight Night XII

WALLACE — It’s the five year anniversary for Wallace Fight Night, and they will be doing it right this weekend as they host their 15th boxing event in the Silver Valley.

After the huge success of their last event, this weekend’s Fight Night XII — the 12th of the 15 events to be held in Wallace — will once again be in the ballroom of the Wallace Elks, beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.

“The Elks have been great to us and that building is rad,” Silver Valley Boxing coach Rick Welliver said. “The setting is just more intimate and it has that old school feel to it. It feels like going to a boxing event from back the 1970s or 80s.”

Teams from all across the Pacific Northwest and Canada will make Wallace their mecca this weekend, which has quite a few fun things going on prior to the event itself.

“Wallace has the pub crawl going on and we’ll be right at the tail end of that,” Welliver said. “Folks can come have a few beers, come watch the fights and have a few more.”

Local fighters Chevy Ward (3-0) and Tyler Wuerfel (2-1) will be making their second consecutive Fight Night appearances and will be looking to build on their impressive young careers. Meanwhile, newcomer Zach Lewis will be making his debut at the event.

“Our local guys love these events and love putting on a show for their hometown crowds,” Welliver said. “It should be a great show.”

Regional favorite and Wallace Fight Night veteran Coral Devereaux will be in the main event, battling Blas Magana in a 152-pound bout.

Tickets are available, for more information contact Rick Welliver.

Saturday’s fight card appears at right and is subject to change.
