WALLACE — A Shoshone County jury found a Plummer man guilty on Wednesday of committing nine different fish and game violations following a two-day long trial.

Held at the courthouse in Wallace, the trial featured the criminal case of Leonard Tomaskin Jr., 58, who was being charged with a felony count of unlawfully killing big game animals in excess of $1,000 in reimbursable damages, one misdemeanor count of hunting big game animals without a license, four misdemeanor counts of hunting big game animals without tags, two misdemeanor counts of possessing unlawfully taken big game animals and one misdemeanor count of failing to make reasonable efforts to retrieve wounded big game.

Tomaskin’s charges stem from events that occurred on Oct. 27, 2017, in the Clarkia area of Shoshone County that included illegally killing two calf moose and a whitetail deer doe. Records indicate that the combined dollar amount in reimbursable damage for the dead animals adds up to $4,900 ($400 from the whitetail deer, $1,500 for one of the moose and $3,000 for the second).

The state was represented at the trial by Shoshone County Chief Deputy Prosecutor, Benjamin Allen, who presented the findings of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game investigation against Tomaskin.

According to Idaho code, Tomaskin is now facing a revocation of his hunting privileges, providing financial reimbursements to the state and possible jail time.

His sentencing is scheduled for July 10.
