Kellogg High School Golf

PINEHURST — Senior Kat Rauenhorst and junior Taylor Bush earned medalist honors as host Kellogg won non-league duals against their Silver Valley counterparts on Monday, April 15, at Pinehurst Golf Club.

On the girls side, the only complete team was the Wildcats, and they were led by seniors Rauenhorst (42) and Emma Bristow (54).

For the boys, Bush overcame some early struggles to finish just 1-over par for the day (37).

Josh Allen from Wallace shot a 42 to place second.

The boys finished with a respectable fifth place finish, while the girls took seventh. Kat Rauenhorst was among the top individuals, firing an 83.

SPIRIT LAKE — A near no-hitter in the opener turned into a no-no in the nightcap as the Tigers swept the Wildcats 21-0 and 10-0 in Intermountain League play on Tuesday, April 16.

Kobe Harris struck out 12 in the opener for Timberlake, only allowing a leadoff single to Triston Neubauer.

In the nightcap, Gage Benefield struck out seven as the Tigers held the Wildcats hitless.

“Right now, we’re painting the zone with a lot of strikes,” Timberlake coach Cameron Knigge said. “The guys have been throwing well for us. Between (Jacob) Hessing, (Jack) McDonald), Harris and Benefield, we’ve just been throwing strikes and the guys are stepping up.”

McDonald — who threw a no-hitter in a win over Bonners Ferry last Friday — drove in four runs in the first game for Timberlake.

SPIRIT LAKE — Becca Malloy scattered four hits and struck out six in the first game, and Bernie Carhart pitched a one-hitter in the nightcap as the Tigers blanked the visiting Wildcats11-0 and 21-0 in an Intermountain League doubleheader on Tuesday, April 16.

Emma Howard hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning, and finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs and three runs scored in the opener for Timberlake, which scored seven runs in the fifth inning to end the game early on the 10-run rule.

Carhart, who went 3 for 4 in the opener, went 4 for 4 in the second game, with four RBIs and four runs scored. Her sister, Lily Carhart, had two hits and drove in three runs in the second game.

“Becca threw really well,” Timberlake coach Casi Lupinacci said. “Emma Howard had a great really (good) day at the plate and made great catches in the outfield (left field in the first game, right field in the second). And Bernie threw one of the best games she’s every thrown (in the second game), and also went 4 for 4.”

BIG CREEK — Lakeside senior Alyssa SiJohn earned medalist honors with a 95 in a tournament hosted by Wallace at Shoshone Golf Course on Thursday, April 18. Lakeside’s girls edged St. Maries by six strokes (430-436) for the team title.

St. Maries’ boys won the team title with a 380.

Clark Fork’s Cole Rueter was boys medalist with a 76, while Wallace’s Josh Allen fired an 83.
